Gay meetups in brief

Information about gay life is only sporadically available online. So we have made it our mission to report on a few selected topics in today's blog.

Gay meetup

In Germany, homosexuality is largely accepted, especially in bigger cities such as Hamburg, Cologne, Berlin, Munich and others. There are no longer any laws that punish homosexual intercourse. Since August 1, 2001, same-sex couples in Germany have been allowed to enter a registered civil partnership, which is recognized in most areas of law. Since August 5, 2016, it has been possible for gay couples in Germany to take on foster care or guardianship of children and teenagers and to exercise it jointly.

In the gay scene, language has continued to evolve over the last few generations. Because of the "otherness," as it is sometimes called in public, many foreign words have become part of everyday German, and they belong to the gay scene just as much as various venues, organizations, different groups, meeting places and events.

What is meant by gay and a gay meetup?

Gay meetup Gay is a term from the gay scene that is gradually being accepted and used by society. In Germany the word "schwul" often still carries negative connotations, which is why the loanword gay has caught on in many regions. It comes from English and literally means homosexual. Gay sounds friendlier and less clinical than the word "homosexual."

There are different kinds, which we would like to look at a little more closely here. A gay meetup is a gathering of homosexual teenagers and men who have built their own world, set apart from straight society. A few generations ago it was frowned upon to come out publicly as gay. Thanks to the progress of the generations, everyone's tolerance and the revolutions that came with it, gay people are now part of our world and are excluded less and less. Scenes have developed in which gay men can move freely and without constraint. These scenes exist in every big city and include various venues such as bars, saunas, and virtual spaces and portals, which are mostly run on a volunteer basis, focus on the gay scene and enrich it considerably with their content and offerings. But where do you find the gay scene and its offerings and opportunities? http://www.er-sucht-ihn.info

What is cruising - the gay meetup?

  • Searching for a partner
  • Online
  • At events
  • In establishments
Cruising comes from the language of English sailors and means "to sail or travel around by ship." In gay sexuality, it is the active, deliberate and usually mobile search for a sexual partner. Cruising means showing interest through recognizable signals - social semiotic codes - conveyed, for example, through gestures, clothing or body language. The search can be carried out by car, bicycle, boat or on foot. Cruising is a way of avoiding social conversation. It requires no formal introduction or any other mediation by third parties.
